Coming to LATMOS in Guyancourt

In Guyancourt, LATMOS is located on the site of the Observatory of Sciences of the Universe (OSU) of the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ)
It occupies the main building of the site. Entrance is through the left door of the building (see photo below), behind which you will find the reception office.

To get there by public transport:

The closest station is “Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines”.
Three lines lead there:

  • RER C  : “Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines” terminus
  • Line N : Paris Montparnasse – Rambouillet
  • Line U : La Défense – La Verrière.

To exit the station: get off the platform and go through the turnstiles on the steep side (on the right if you go down the escalator, on the left otherwise) – this is the side that most people go to, normally…

It is possible to reach Saint Quentin en Yvelines by bus from:

  • Paris Porte d’Orléans: line 475 of the company SQYBUS
  • Massy-Palaisseau station: line 91-06 of the Albatrans company (stop A on the map below).
  • Take the RER B towards “Robinson” or “Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse”: get off at the “Châtelet – Les Halles” stop.
  • Then take the RER A towards “Cergy-Le Haut”, “Poissy” or “Saint-Germain-en-Laye”: get off at “La Défense”
  • Then take the train towards “La Verrière” and get off at “Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines”

It is possible to come by public transport from Orly airport, however it is quicker and easier to come by taxi.
If you still want to come by public transport, the simplest method is:

  • take the Air-France shuttle to “Gare Montparnasse”
  • then take the suburban train to “Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines”

From Saint-Quentin en Yvelines station to the laboratory:

Walk … :

The journey between the station and the laboratory takes between 20 and 25 minutes depending on your speed.
There are several paths to come on foot from the station and these paths intersect. Here are three of these paths, you are free to adapt them to your desires/constraints using the map:

exit the station (straight after the turnstiles) and cross the square and the car park in front of you. On your left you will find a pedestrian crossing which will take you past the park. Enter the park via the white flagstone path (in the middle of the grass) and continue until you reach a crossroads where you take the first right (sign “Garennes par…”). Continue straight ahead until you reach an overhang, you will have a maze in front of you. To the right is a path that goes down, follow it and reach the pool. take the paved path which leads away from the pool to another (circular). cross the patch of grass diagonally to the right, turn right and you will find the entrance to the site on your left.

exit the station (straight after the turnstiles) and take the diagonal passage on the right, cross the road on the left and go down Boulevard Vauban. You pass in front of an entrance to the park, it is possible to finish the journey there (see above), otherwise continue to the crossroads and take boulevard D’Alembert on the left, follow it until the small roundabout where you will take left then straight to enter the site.

exit the station (straight after the turnstiles) and take the diagonal passage to the right, cross the intersection so that you are on the opposite corner. go down the escalator and head towards the shopping alley (rue Colbert). Follow it until you have a large staircase on your right, then turn left into rue André le Noire. Cross the street, the square and Boulevard Vauban. You are at the entrance to the park, you can finish through the park or by continuing on the sidewalk (see the other two methods).

En bus :

Take the corridor on the left after the turnstiles if you are coming from the train or follow the signs to reach the bus platform.
Three lines of the SQYBUS company lead to the laboratory (D): 465, 467 and 461.
Whichever line you choose, get off at the “Hameau de Troux” stop. However, the descents do not take place on the same branches of the roundabout: refer to the map below to reach the laboratory (stop B for the 461, stop C for the 465 and 467).

To get to LATMOS Guyancourt by personal vehicle:

take the A13 then join the A12 in the direction of “Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines / Dreux / Rambouillet …”,
After the Bois d’Arcy tunnel, (right lanes) exit towards Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, then, at the roundabout take the 3rd right (direction Center commercial Régional) continue straight (you go over the railway tracks), at the roundabout, take opposite, then turn right at the square with a fountain.
Then turn left onto Avenue du Pas du Lac, then left again to arrive on Boulevard Vauban. At the roundabout, turn right onto Boulevard d’Alembert, continue straight until the small roundabout, then follow “Institut Pierre Simon Laplace”. You have arrived !
